Inspired by the resilience, creativity, and hustle of street vendors, the Street Hawker Collection transforms cultural storytelling into wearable design.
JULIA is more than a sock line. It is a tribute, a lineage, and a full-circle return to the woman whose courage shaped my life: my mother, Juliana. The name isn’t branding ; it is inheritance. It is the echo of every morning I spent with her as a boy in junior secondary school, following her to her shop where she ran a small pharmacy and supermarket with the kind of quiet strength only mothers possess.
Some days, she would hand me a cooler filled with ice cream and send me out to hawk around the neighbourhood to help boost her sales. At the time, I didn’t understand what she was teaching me. I just knew I was helping. But those walks in the heat, weaving between traffic and people, carrying something to sell so we could make a little more at the end of the day; that was my first education in dignity, survival, and honest work.
So I started documenting them.
That project became Street Hawker Series, a photographic body of work that documents the resilience and creativity of street vendors.
By transforming art into wearable design, JULIA invites people to carry stories of culture, strength, and creativity with every step.
